The Will Bernard Trio is group with guitar, organ and drums that plays mostly original music. The emphasis is on a modern interpretation of the classic 60's and 70's soul/jazz organ music with a wide variety of influences. Will's style has been described as a mixture of Grant Green and Bill Frisell. Will Bernard is a New York City resident and has recorded five CDs as a leader. The last one, Blue Plate Special features John Medeski and Stanton Moore. The Palmetto Release, Party Hats was nominated for a Grammy in 2007.
The touring trio is:
Wil Blades is talented young Hammond B3 player from Berkeley California that is building on the tradition of Jimmy Smith and Dr Lonnie Smith.
Simon Lott is an innovative drummer from New Orleans that mixes New Orleans style drumming with funk, rock and free jazz.

My groups have played The Vienne, Rostock, Aarhus, Usti, Edinburgh, Perth, Birmingham,and Aruba festivals as well as isolated dates in Germany, Spain, England, France, Czech Republic, Italy, and Tokyo. In the U.S. I toured with my band on the West Coast, East Coast and Southern regions, playing the Discover Festival in Vermont the San Francisco Jazz festival and played during the New Orleans Jazz festival with Dr Lonnie Smith, Stanton Moore trio and others.
My 2007 Cd Party Hats was nominated for a Grammy. 2008's Palmetto release, "Blue Plate Special" features John Medeski (MMW), Stanton Moore (drummer of Galactic) and Andy Hess (Gov't Mule, John Scofield).
