Tourschedules 2013
Septet
The Band recorded in January 2011 their 2nd CD in Berlin. The new CD “Complete Soul”
is the 4th Release with his own Label nWog Records in September 2012.
Root 70
The upcoming Tour of “Listen To Your Woman” Tourneen is in November 2012.
The next CD-Release is planned for fall 2013. In September 2012 Root 70 will record
with German Radio Deutschlandfunk in Cologne.
Nostalgia
We will tour in April 2013 with the new member Arno Krijger from Tilburg/NL.

- this formation unites one of the best improvisors and soloists of the German jazz scene. All musicians have long
been involved in different projects and have a very individual Sound. Nils Wogram’s compositions are strictly
arranged, but also open to improvisation for each musician to show his own musical capacity. Without bass and
harmony-instruments there is a great transparency and less room for traditional cliches. Their sound is reminiscent
of the warm and cool arrangements of Gil Evans but also to the overflowing energy of Charles Mingus. Beneath
you will find also influences of Balkan-Music and reminicenses to New Music.

The idea for the nostalgia trio slept in Nils Wogram for many many years. It all began from his love for extraordinary trios
with the Hammond organ from the numerous sessions in Harlem during his time in New York. And this third CD of the trio,
founded in 2004, is the real thing. The band just plays around with the fat grooves. The opening piece already invites the
funky neighbor to a dance party. But Wogram would not be Wogram if he didn’t also rely on unconventional beats (“Friday
the 13th”), reggae and pop arithmetic shimmering with melodica (“Swing ‘em Home”), stomping analog fake electronic beats
(“Copenhagen”) and epic melody and harmony arcs (“Fundamentals”), in addition to the obligatory syncopated 4/4 trips through
time.
Yet, in spite of all forward pressing, swinging powers (“Sturm & Drang,” “Now”), the CD remains a warm drug that penetrates
deep into the heart à la Lenny Kravitz (“Country Rain”), which is addictive, but, thank god, doesn’t make one dependent.

The Nabatov-Wogram Duo was one of the major discoveries of the Moers New Jazz Festival (Germany).
Euphoric pressreviews celebrated them as the new"dreamteam". The Nabatov-Wogram Duo is the meeting of two personalities in music
whose roots are based in the improvised as well as in the composed contemporary music. For both players there don`t seem to be any
stilistic, compositional or musical/technical borders. Their wide background enables them to break open various music stiles and melt
them together to a unique new music. The easy and clever manner they develop this musictransports an enormous joy. The surprising
changes and contrasts demand the listeners constant attention. Like this the music becomes an exiting listening experience.
This way, this new CD becomes a striking listening experience with free tonal and keyboard attacks, classical and jazz-oriented
arpeggios, up-tempo solos, growling ballads and a healthy dose of Brazilian groove.
Simon Nabatov as well as Nils Wogram made names for themselfs on the international jazz and contemporary music scene through
well acclaimed CD releases and many live concerts with their own projects.

One of the most original jazz formations in Europe – Nils Wogram & Root 70 – was releasing a blues concept album
in 2010 with most remarkable results & musicawards! On “Listen to Your Woman”, the German-New Zealand quartet presents eleven
of their own ingenious, unparalleled compositions. These are no softened-up jazz standards steeped in honey. Neither are they cerebral
avant-garde for elite circles. These lads open up new jazz horizons with their unconventional ideas and technical brilliance, and yet the
audience doesn’t need a doctoral degree to enjoy the music. The very album title is clever: “Listen to Your Woman”. This advice will
not only rescue peace in the household, but also reveal where the next 75 minutes will lead: between the lines, to the heart of the matter,
and deep into the diverse ways to play the blues.
The CD is full of energy and an urge to act, with its many changes of tempo and ambitious turns from Delta Blues to Boogie to 24 quarter
per octave Swing Drive, from overtone to Reggae to spoken words. This band is an experimental factory of sophisticated harmonic,
rhythmic and individualsounds. Four absolute language artists of Jazz using a musical code! Strictly awesome.
