An English singer, a German reedman, an Italian pianist.
Together an extraordinary trio.
Norma Winstone - vocals
Glauco Venier - piano
Klaus Gesing - soprano sax & bass clarinet
I am very happy to announce that I have just started the representation of three great musicians, the Grammy-nominated trio Winstone / Gesing / Venier.
Singer and lyricist Norma Winstone has few contemporary peers: her words seem to float up from the music's expressive core. But this trio is not a story of singer and accompanists.
This is a band in which creative responsibilities are very equally shared. Glauco Venier and Klaus Gesing have collaborated in musical projects since the mid-90s, including a long running duo. They invited Norma to join them for some concerts in Italy a decade ago and she soon recognized a potential for developing a trio music with its own very specific character and an almost nude instrumentation - voice, piano, bass clarinet/ soprano sax.
The trio can be heard on two outstanding recordings on ECM: the Grammy-nominated "Distances" (2008), and the latest, "Stories Yet To Tell" (2010).
However, as it is a point of honour for this trio never to tell the tale, or play the music, the same way twice it is especially worthwhile to experience the group live as well as on disc. So, starting out in January, I will be planning several tours for the trio during 2013.
Best regards

"Difficult to decide what eventually arouse the most excitement: Glauco Venier's humour and inspiration, Klaus Gesing's "soprano" which comes closer to the human voice than any other since a long time, or Winstone herself, who, among the great many jazz singers of our days, stands out for her freedom of expression."
