Europe’s Largest Double Bass Convention Hits Copenhagen
150+ Performances, Master Classes & Networking Opportunities
(Copenhagen, Denmark) Europe’s largest double bass convention is hitting Copenhagen during
August 14-19. Continuing the success from Paris2008 and Berlin2010, BASS2012
COPENHAGEN is pumping up both the classical and jazz music at the Royal Opera House
with more than 150 events, including competitions, recitals, open stages, master classes,
seminars and networking party.
Over 70 world-known artists and professors are flying in, including masters like Italian
Professor Enrico Fagone and the Norwegian jazz legend Arild Andersen.
Strategy to make the most out of BASS2012 COPENHAGEN is to read the program
thoroughly and plan well ahead, because none of the 150 events is repeating. Artists'
information and other details is on www.bass2012.eu. Because of the non-profit making nature
of the event, be prepared to meet the friendliest artists and experience the wildest music
styles!
“Participants are not expected to be passive,” said Jimmi Roger Pedersen, international jazz
bass player and Artistic Director of the convention. “BASS2012 is an interactive platform
assisting bassists’ growth. Practice your skills at home, come listen to others and be inspired,
perform to inspire others, meet new people and jam new opportunities.”
Do take the chance to expose yourself with BASS2012 COPENHAGEN’s extensive performing
opportunities at the Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen’s number one attraction; Jazzhus
Montmartre and Copenhagen Jazzhouse, some Europe’s hottest jazz clubs; and at the
Battle of Copenhagen, where the historical ships, international dancers and music
performances to crack the crowd right beside The Little Mermaid.
Need to perfect your gears? More than 30 renowned luthiers and bass makers, among others
Thomas & George Martin, Pollman, Björn Stoll, will be on hand.
A Bassist’s Pass is 60€ (and 40€ for students), where a 20€ BASSEUROPE membership is
required. The pass grants full entrance to all events at the Opera House, an invitation to the
artist-exclusive networking party and access to BASS2012 COPENHAGEN’s artists database
where bassists could connect each other. Tickets available at www.bass2012.eu.
