JIMI TENOR - new album & TOUR 2012/13

 

The third album of Jimi Tenor and Kabukabu : “Mystery of Aether” will be released in May 2012 by Kindered Spirits.

Ten tracks inspired by the cosmos and the aether.  Songs that praise the earth and the skies. Mystery is found in the movement of planets and the resonance of the void.  But  JT & KK also re-encounter their lost spirits “eggums”  during the recording of track “Africa Kingdom”.

Mystery of Aether is leaning a bit more to the afrojazz than afrobeat, which has dominated JT&KK´s previous albums.  Many of the tracks like “Selvänäkijä (Clair-voyant)”, “Starstuff” and “Universal Love”  in fact feature a full-blown afro big band with 5 saxes, 4 trombones and 4 trumpets.

The album features Cuban rapper Kumar, who delivers his poetry in “Africa Kingdom”.  Kumar is living these days in Barcelona.

Other soloists are Kalle Kalima on guitar, Jukka Eskola on wooden trumpet,  Daniel Allen Oberto on trumpet and congas, Mongo Aaltonen on congas, Jay Kortehisto on Trombone and Akinola Famson on talking drum..

Jimi Tenor is singing the lead vocals . Akinola Famson and Ekow Alabi Savage take care of the backing vocals. Jimi has written most of the songs and is also playing saxophones and flutes.

 

The album was recorded in Helsinki in Jimi´s Piparjuuri-studios and in the legendary afrobeat studio Lovelite in Berlin between 2010-2012.
