2011 was a great year for Jean-Luc Ponty.
He received the Jazz Legend Award from the Mayor at the end of his performance with his band at the Jazz Festival in Cork, Ireland.
Altogether Jean-Luc Ponty performed 88 concerts, 75 of which with "Return To Forever IV" (Chick Corea / keyboards) - Stanley Clarke / bass - Lenny White / drums - Jean-Luc Ponty / violin - Frank Gambale / guitar) in Australia, Canada, Europe, Israel, USA, Japan and South Korea.
The November tour in South America with the "Atlantic Years Band" was also a big highlight. THE ATLANTIC YEARS featuring William Lecomte (keyboards) and members of Jean-Luc Ponty's American band from the 80s Jamie Glaser (guitar) - Baron Browne (bass) - Rayford Griffin (drums).
In 2012 Jean-Luc Ponty will perform with Jean-Luc Ponty & his Band William Lecomte (keyboards), Guy Akwa (bass) and Damien Schmitt (drums) as well as with his Duo format with William Lecomte on keyboards.
This year on 11 February 2012 Jean-Luc Ponty & his Band are invited to perform on one of the most important cultural events in Russia, the Winter International Arts Festival Sochi with Yuri Bashmet as artistic director.
In Paris on 11 April 2012 Jean-Luc Ponty will perform in the prestigious cultural theatre "Le Chatelet" as a special event "50 years of innovative jazz" with a symphony orchestra and different formats with some outstanding musicians he has worked together in the past.
