Orchestra of Spheres – Rasa
The title of the debut EP ‘”Space Art Music” gives an impression of the sound of this foursome from New Zealand. African rhythms, virtuoso mathematical guitar playing alienating electronics, theremin and beautiful shout choruses.

Seeljocht – Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh
“Seeljocht” (Frisian for sea light) is a collective of like-minded musicians and artists from Northern Europe and Nort America, brought together as “artists in residence” project at the Into The Great Wide Open festival. During the festival, the collective focussed on their own interpretation and artistic translation of the island Vlieland, where the festival was hosted. This led to a soundtrack of the sound of nature, both supported and empowered by Vlieland’s imagery. The music of Seeljocht is mostly based upon improvisation, which makes the listening experience of Seeljocht a unique journey through the musical identity of the artists of the Seeljocht collective. At Le Guess Who? we present Seeljocht for the first time outside of Vlieland!
Seeljocht is: Peter Broderick, Nils Frahm, Greg Haines, Piiptsjilling (Mariska Baars, Romke Kleefstra, Rutger Zuydervelt, Jan Kleefstra), Sytze Pruiksma and video artists 33 1/3 (Douwe Dijkstra, Coen Huisman, Jules van Hulst)
Slagwerk Den Haag – Michael Gordon’s Timber – Vredenburg Leeuwenbergh
Michael Gordon is an internationally celebrated composer and co-founder of the Bang on a Can festival and ensemble. Tonight the six members of Slagwerk Den Haag will perform his “Timber” in a special setting: with the public surrounding them. Timber is a piece written especially for Slagwerk Den Haag. It is written for Simantras, a percussion instrument that at first sight resembles a normal wooden bar. Once played by the skilled hands of Slagwerk Den Haag the subtle variations in rhythm and dynamics have a pulsating effect and will carry the listener along with its hypnotic minimalism.
Fedor Teunisse – simantra; Niels Meliefste – simantra; Juan Martinez – simantra; Pepe Garcia – simantra; Joey Marijs – simantra; Frank Wienk – simantra.
Panda Bear – Tivoli Oudegracht
One of the four members of the popular Animal Collective (Rumor 42 ) will make his way to Utrecht. But this is not just any guy with a side project. No, according to some Panda Bear is the genius of the American experimental group. Many people called Person Pitch the record of the year. Successor Tomboy was released this spring and continued where Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion ended. Ecstatic samplepop with deep bass, crackling drones and the distinctive beauty of Noah Lennox’s voice. Panda Bear doesn’t perform all that much, so make sure you do not miss it.
