Widely-known and Grammy Award-winning jazz and blues musicians will perform at
the first annual John Coltrane International Jazz and Blues Festival on Saturday, Sept. 3, in High Point — childhood home of the legendary jazz saxophonist for whom the festival is named.
Performers will take to the stage at Festival Park, overlooking beautiful Oak Hollow Lake, at 1841 Eastchester Dr. Gates open at 1 p.m.
Artists who have committed to perform during the festival include Patti Austin, Kirk Whalum, Ronnie Laws, Lonnie Liston Smith, Tom Browne, Ravi Coltrane, Zac Harmon, Sue Ann Carwell, Barbara Weathers, Calvin Edwards and the John Coltrane All Star N. C. Jazz & Blues Band.

The festival is being organized by The Friends of John Coltrane, whose mission is to celebrate the life and music of John Coltrane and to enrich the lives of others through the introduction of jazz and other musical genres.
