VPRO/Boy Edgar PrizeVPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2011to Ferdinand Povel
The most prestigious award in the Netherlands for jazz and improvised music, the VPRO/Boy Edgar Prize 2011, has been awarded to tenor saxophonist and teacher Ferdinand Povel. The award comes with prize money of 12,500 euros. On Monday May 16, the award was presented to Ferdinand Povel during a special concert at the Bimhuis in Amsterdam. There were performances by a.o. Big Band Conservatorium van Amsterdam, Ferdinand Povel/John Marshall Quintet, Sanna van Vliet Trio and Ruud Jacobs Quintet.
