“Cellos”
Ulrich Mitzlaff / Miguel Mira
We are very glad to announce our new CD “Cellos” that is based on contemporary improvisation and real time conceptual compositions. It is available at “creative sources recordings” (http://www.creativesourcesrec.com).
…“Few times improvisation had such a conceptual relevance. Offenbach would be puzzled with “Cellos”, as I did and certainly will you.” (Rui Eduardo Paes)
You can listen to a short excerpt in concert of “descontinuidade – discontinuity” – Ulrich Mitzlaff & Miguel Mira, @ Galeria ArtHobler, Lisbon, 18.09.2009 (link available to download 7 days):

The Cello-Duo of Ulrich Mitzlaff and Miguel Mira presented itself in concert the very first time at the LEM Festival Primavera 2009 at the Museu d´Art Contemporani de Barcelona with a huge success.
“The association between Ulrich Mitzlaff and Miguel Mira promises an unforeseeable sound meeting. The specific, personal and different ways of their distinguished expression is the base for their very dynamic and interactive music. They create sounds where the improvisation moves with great fluency between the establishing of textures and abstract musical ideas and the switching in the musical discourse to singular, rhythmic and melodic affirmations. They construct the sonar explorations using the characteristics of their instruments just like a simple acoustic and global sound resource. Ulrich Mitzlaff formed prolific alliances with some of the most relevant musicians of the experimental music in Portugal, Carlos “Zingaro”, Nuno Rebelo, Carlos Santos e Carlos Bechegas. Miguel Mira has met with his bands all kinds of currents in the field of jazz, from fusion to improvisation with projects like the Rodrigo Amado Motion Trio and Rive Gauche and is playing concerts with Carlos “Zingaro”, Rodrigo Amado and Scott Fields.” (www.granularnews.blogspot.com).
