We would like to propose this project for you concert programming:
Jazz Guitar Meets Church Organ
This project was specifically composed for jazz guitar and pipe organ. The 12 pieces address several forms of jazz and improvisation and exemplify the relationship between the guitar and the organ. (This program in Dutch explains the music in detail)
Stylistically the program ranges from a Jazz Fugue jazz fugue and impressionistic Jazz to free improvisation using the guitar synthesizer. The 60 to 70 minutes worth of music were composed by the performers, Joep van Leeuwen (NL) en Gero Korner (D).
Joep van Leeuwen is a performing musician and is on the faculty for jazz guitar and jazz history of the Maastricht Music Academy, Netherlands. Gero Körner is performing musician in many styles ranging from jazz to rock and classical music on piano, keyboard, Hammond and pipe organ.
The project premiered October 22-25, 2009 during the het Maastricht Jazz Festival.. The concerts took place in three churches, Sint Martinus, De Lutherse Kerk en de Cellebroederskapel (picture impression: 01, 02, 03, 04, 05) and the concert hall of the Music Academy.
