BIRMINGHAM JAZZ BRINGS BOBBY PREVITE'S DIALED IN TO BIRMINGHAM'S SUPERSONIC FESTIVAL SATURDAY JULY 25TH THE CUSTARD FACTORY

Birmingham Jazz has always believed strongly in taking jazz to different audiences and is known for its imaginative collaborations with other musical organisations.  So it is not surprise that BJ is collaborating with Capsule and the Supersonic Festival to bring over Bobby Previte's Dialed In project with VJ artist Benton C-Bainbridge.  They will play on the second day of the festival, Saturday 25th July in the Custard Factory

 Bobby Previte

Bobby Previte describes Dialed In as follows;

Dialed In VJ vs.drummer.
A live audiovisual performance by drummer/composer
Bobby Previte and VJ Benton-C Bainbridge.
Previte triggers every sound live- no loops, no laptops,
no overdubbing. VJ Benton-C paints with light, spilling off
the screen and onto the performers.
Each using obsolete and forgotten technology scavenged
from the tech dump, Benton-C warps video into strange
shapes not seen since Electric Company,
while Previte whips sonic fragments into powerful songs. "

The Supersonic Festival is a major festival of alternative and electronic music run by Capsule.  It takes place over the weekend of July 24th to 26th in the Custard Factory.  It is an urban festival taking place in Birmingham's Irish Quarter, Digbeth but manages to be a one ticket festival with an audience ready to try out different bands.  Birmingham Jazz is confident that Dialed In will be one of the hits of the weekend.  The gig is placed in a very intelligent piece of programming in a sequence that includes Zu, an Italian futuristic jazz group and the Flower/Corsano Duo, all groups that have a jazz basis but stretch the boundaries in interesting ways.
