Dear members of the international music scene, fellow musicians and enthusiasts,
ArTree, a non-profit society for musical expression, in collaboration with the Local Authorities of Magnesia and the people of Agios Lavrendis, present the international summer festival “Music Village 2008”.
Music Village takes place in the breathtaking surroundings of Agios Lavrendis, a historic 650 years old village on Mount-Pillion in Greece, and evolves within a 14-day period of diverse musical happenings. It aims to promote all forms of musical performance through seminars, concerts and festivities, encourage the exchange of ideas between artists of various musical backgrounds, facilitate unrestricted musical collaborations and reinforce human relationships.
MUSIC VILAGE 2008 will incorporate 21 Workshops and Masterclasses focusing on high-art Western, Jazz and improvisatory music, as well as Folk musical traditions of the East Mediterranean and the Balkans.
In addition to the seminars and related activities, it will host 15 concerts presenting various artists and musical genres as well as many extra activities of an entertaining or educational nature including Shiatsu classes, walking tours, horse riding and more . The various workshops, concerts and extra-curricular activities are designed to co-exist in complementary ways despite their different musical subjects, while participants are allowed and encouraged to attend any number of seminars through a single application. The curriculum emphasizes all original and unconventional areas of music making and related subjects that are yet to be fully incorporated within our main-stream educational systems.. All participants will enjoy accommodation in traditional hostels in the village.
As coordinators of this music community, we welcome you to MUSIC VILLAGE 2008 and invite you to take part either as active participants or visitors.
