Probably
the most important singer on the present day British jazz scene,
Norma is that rare combination of a singer and a vocal musician.
As an interpreter of the standard songs she has few equals and
her diverse musical interest led to her involvement in free
improvisation in its early days, as well as performance of
Benjamin Britten's Cabaret Songs and working for the Netherlands
Opera in performance of a contemporary work by the composer Ian
McQueen.
Norma has worked with British and European radio big bands, as
well as performing with "Vocal Summit", in a cappella
vocal group based around Jay Clayton and Ursula Dudziak.
She has written lyrics to many of the songs she performs.
