Claudio Fasoli was born in Venice, Italy, and has lived in Milan now for many years. In the early part of the Seventies he played with the well-known electric jazz quintet called Perigeo together with artists such as Franco D'Andrea, and Giovanni Tommaso, touring and recording with RCA not only in Italy and Europe, but also in the U.S. and Canada. In 1980, after the experience in the field of electric jazz, Fasoli went back to acoustic, leading trios and quartets which included some of the best Italian and foreign musicians of the moment, such as Oxley, Danielsson, Goodrick (CD Bodies- Nueva; Cities- RAM), Jenny Clark, Humair (CD Welcome - Soul Note), Schoof, Wheeler (CD Land - Nueva), Texier (CD Ten Tributes - RAM), etc; his compositions being enjoyed in festivals, concerts and recordings in Italy and abroad.

His most recent musical collaborations include work with the "Grande Orchestra Nazionale" (1992-93), G. Gaslini Quintet, M. Schoof International Band, Star Ensemble of Siena, and with Sax Appeal Saxophone Quartet (CD Giotto - Soul Note), as well as leading the European Music Orchestra himself (CD Guest - Soul Note, with Wheeler and Romano).

Fasoli is considered to be one of the musicians most representative of the jazz scene in Italy today, and is well-known on the international level. As a soprano and tenor saxophone leading voice, through many years of intense dedication to the study of all aspects of technique related to improvisation, Fasoli, a self-educated musician, has achieved his own very peculiarly evolved deep "round" sound. His musical point of view is characterized by a "wide-angle" melodic-harmonic approach which is conveyed in his fluency of phrasing.

Well-known as a teacher, Fasoli also leads the Tenor & Soprano Saxophone Department at the Siena International Summer Seminars in Italy, and has contributed numerous articles to leading music magazines. He is responsible for the jazz music program at the Conservatory of Music in Rovigo.
