Silvia
Droste had her first public appearances at the age of 14, as
a member of the school jazz band in the field of traditional
jazz. At that time she mainly played alto saxophon and only sang
occasionally. This was back in 1974. Nowadays she is known as
Germany's "First Lady" of classical modern jazz
singing. Awards in divers jazz competitions and her prize-winning
debut-album "Audiophile Voicings" have made her known
to the German jazz audience.
She
worked with a number of world-famous jazz artists in the modern
styles as well as in the jazz tradition: Dutch Swing College
Band, Mr.Acker Bilk, Jiggs Whigham, Ack van Rooyen, Dado Moroni,
Michel Herr, Archie Shepp, Riccardo del Fra, and quite recently
she toured with the John Hicks Trio, having besides John Hicks, Curtis Lundy and
Idris Muhammad. This group was also recorded by the German
TV-station WDR.
