Gene "Action" Jackson hails from Philadelphia where he graduated from West Philadelphia High School in 1979. He attended Boston's Berklee College of Music from 1979 - 1984. From 1985 to 1990 he toured and recorded four records with The Kevin Eubanks Trio/Quartet. Gene's reputation as a deep-swinging, power drummer paved the way for his move to New York in 1987. He has since served up his segnature swing/funk/Afro-Caribbean on record, television, and on tour for many of today's top artists:

1991 - European Tour with the Herbie Hancock - Wayne Shorter Quartet
1992 - Recorded with Terence Blanchard for the motion-picture soundtrack of Spike Lee's "Malcom X". Also began teaching at the world renown school of percussion, Drummers Collective in New York
1993 - World tour with the Herbie Hancock Trio, touring the Caribbean, Canada, U.S., Europe and Japan
1994 - Toured and recorded with the
Dave Holland Quartet, Herbie Hancock Trio, Robin Eubanks Group and Michelle Rosewoman's Quintessence. Major Japanese tour with Shunzo Ohno, sponsored by Min-On
1995 - Toured Europe and Japan with the Herbie Hancock Trio. Recorded and toured Europe with The Dave Holland Quartet.
