A phenomenally skillful jazz and rock drummer, Chad's professional career began in 1978 with the Bill Watrous Band. Since then he has amassed a remarkable body of work including a seven year association with Frank Zappa, with whom he toured the U.S.A. and Europe and recorded 25 albums. He has also recorded 6 albums and toured with guitar legend Allan Holdsworth, played on the "One Voice" concert with Barbra Streisand, and recorded albums with artists as diverse as Steve Vai, former Police guitarist Andy Summers, Ed Mann, Albert Lee, Colin Hay, Dweezil Zappa and Tom Grant. Chad has recently toured with John Patitucci, Joe Sample, and the World Drummers Ensemble (Bill Bruford, Luis Conte, Doudou N'Diaye Rose and Chad Wackerman). As a band leader and composer, Chad has two critically acclaimed CDs titled Forty Reasons and The View on CMP Records. Chad's drumming combines the power and conviction of rock with the sensitivity and finesse of jazz. His playing is remarkably free of predictable patterns and licks, relying instead on invention and interplay with the musicians around him. Based in Sydney, Chad's new band features musicians:
Leon Gaer - electric bass. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Leon became one of L.A.'s most in demand bass players. He has played bass on over 1,500 recording sessions in Los Angeles, New York, Nashville and Sydney with various artists including Gino Vannelli, Tommy Emmanuel, Don Ellis, Doc Severinson and Allen Vizzutti.
