JOEL ROSENBLATT
drums

Joel Rosenblatt was born in Sacramento, CA. He began his music career as a trumpet player and later, studied french horn. When he was thirteen, Joel took up drumming for fun.
By the time he graduated High School and entered college at Bridgeport University, Joel had given up playing horns and was only playing the drums. His early influences were Steve Gadd, Tony Williams, and Peter Erskine among others.
In 1980, he began his career as a professional drummer. He started by touring with Matt Guitar Murphy of Blues Brothers Band fame and touring and recording with Pure Prairie League. It was at this time that Joel honed his skills and built his reputation as a talented and ambitious session artist and sideman. Joel spent a considerable amount of time on the New York scene subbing, studying and teaching.
Joel spent four years playing and recording three records with virtuoso pianist Michel Camilo. His performance and recording credits also include such highly noted Jazz artists as: Steve Khan, Paquito D'Rivera, Dave Samuels, Randy Brecker, Claudio Roditi, Bill Evans, Will Lee, Tania Maria, Eliane Elias, Airto & Flora Purim, and Larry Coryell.
Joel also manages to take time each year to conduct drum clinics and inspire musicians all over the United States and abroad.
He now has an in-house studio (CliffSound Productions), and is engineering and producing as well.
