Marockin Brass ft. Byron Wallen

After recent collaborations with such diverse artists as the great saxophonist Trevor Watts (GB), Adama Dramé’s Foliba (Burkina Faso), a popular wedding band from Ouarzazate (Morocco), and even the Royal Flemish Philharmonic, Marockin’ Brass now invites the British trumpeter Byron Wallen as special guest. He will work with drummer Rod Young.
“Byron (Wallen) is one of the most innovative, exciting and original trumpet players alive" (Jazzwise Magazine). Widely recognized as a seminal figure in world jazz, he is constantly travelling the world recording, teaching and performing.
MAROCKIN' BRASS: Their music is the result of a long-lasting love and a thorough analysis of (north)-African rhythms on which they layer their melodic lines that refer to jazz, contemporary music as well as to non-western musical vocabulary. The result is astonishingly fresh and sounds as if Brussels had always been a harbour at the Mediterranean sea.The answer lies undoubtedly in the great amount of respect that is used to intertwine both musical traditions. Hang in there for some steaming gnaoua or sweaty shaabi-funk accompanied by some redhot brass that will blow the sand out of your ears! The Ghanaian talking drum or Moroccan trumpet add some unexpected flavours to the whole. Marockin’ Brass is a real treat for your brain and your feet, on a scene or in open air! Their music is the anthem of the new urban nomad.
