Turner Sims is acknowledged as one of the finest music venues in the country. Opening in 1974, it promotes some 60 concerts a year, attracting internationally renowned performers such as Courtney Pine, Jamie Cullum, guitarist John Williams and pianist Alfred Brendel. Situated on the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus, the varied programme includes classical, jazz, folk and world music. Turner Sims’ intimate 370-seat auditorium, outstanding acoustic and garden setting make it a favourite destination for artists and audiences alike. The jazz programme welcomes artists from the UK, Europe and America, many of them performing an exclusive date in the South of England at the Turner Sims. Recent and forthcoming artists include The Bad Plus, Tord Gustavsen, Denys Baptiste and Hiromi as well as premieres of new projects with Huw Warren and the Portico Quartet.
