Description:

Multimedia center KIBLA is located on the ground floor of Narodni dom in Maribor. It is accessible from the main entry at Kneza Koclja Street 9 and from the side entrance in the direction of the Leon Štukelj Square (former Svetozarevska Street), every weekday and Saturday from 9am to 10pm, and closed on Sundays.

At the MMC KIBLA you can check out exhibitions, artistic performances, music events, or attend one of the literary evenings, discussions, symposiums, conferences, festivals from the fields of contemporary art, music, literature and their interdisciplinary forms, as well as current issues concerning culture, humanities, modern technologies and informal educational activities. The program is internationally and locally oriented and generally free, since we advocate free access to cultural goods. Special attention is paid to exhibition openings, where international public meets with the local.
KIBAR – cyber bar offers personal computers for a quick use of the internet (1 EUR/h) as well as a broadband wireless connection (1G/s), which is free for everyone with their own laptop. The staff will provide all the information and help you may need with the computers. They will also offer hot drinks, local wines, beer, the famous Williams pear brandy (Viljamovka), and other beverages and snacks. Naturally, these are not free, but the prices are decent. If you happen to come across Niki, head of KIBAR, you might end up discussing rock, blues, home-brewed beer and more; Polona will be happy to chat about visual arts, while Bernard can even offer you some serious advice about yoga.
In the corner of our premises you will find a small, lovely bookstore Za:misel (ask the staff at KIBAR), offering mostly Slovenian literature or world literature in Slovenian language, a wide set of humanities and a selection of printed editions of contemporary comic books by Slovenian and foreign authors. It is open between 9am and 5pm on weekdays, and during all literary events.
Our administrative, production and publishing offices are situated in the background. We publish books from our field of work, mostly in English, and a bilingual magazine for art, culture and the joy of life called Folio, rich in picture materials and free.
KIBLA is also located in KIT on the premises on Glavni trg 14 (across the plague sign), with computer stations (1 EUR/h) and occasional exhibitions, and a comfortable lobby with a free wireless internet access in the back. The rooms below host educational programs for different target groups. You will find it open on weekdays and Saturdays from 9am to 10pm.
We are supported by the Ministry of the Republic of Slovenia for Culture, Ministry of economic development and technology in the framework of OP IPA SI-HR 2007–2013, Municipality of Maribor, and Office of the Republic of Slovenia for Youth and EU agencies (EACEA, Program Culture, Leonardo da Vinci, Youth in Action, Brussels).
