Ladies and Gentleman!
As the new Artistic Director of Copenhagen JazzHouse I am immensely proud to be able to welcome you to this fantastic club, and I am looking forward to presenting our brand new concert programme and our recently refurbished premises. You will experience totally new concepts, and, to simplify, I have subdivided our musical profile into a number of sub-profiles that encompass ”Swing Pigalle”, ”Classic Jazz Club” and ”JazzAspect” and not forgetting ”Blip”, our electronic club. These clubs within a club will help define the contours of the many and varied musical experiences the Copenhagen JazzHouse has to offer. And this will not least unify the combined energy of our artists, audiences, sponsors, promoters and the JazzHouse itself. And, in turn, this will enable each and every profile to present itself as an original and unique experience for all participants involved. The real star here is the club itself. And I intend to establish Copenhagen JazzHouse as a pioneer in Europe within its field.
Artistic Director.

JazzAspect Within this profile name you will encounter contemporary, improvised and boundless jazz music played by the leading exponents of both the Danish and European jazz scenes. JazzAspect is a lucid alternative to event culture, and in JazzAspect the keywords, as always, are uncompromising, concentration and experimentation from the more acoustic recesses of jazz. JazzAspect presents an ideal forum where more exclusive jazz can flourish.
Classic Jazz Club Classic Jazz Club is a 2009 version of a classic Copenhagen jazz club and an update of the beautiful traditions on which Copenhagen JazzHouse is founded. It is here that a world renowned soloist can liaise with our very own resident trio, a rhythm section belonging to JazzHouse and not the soloist. They combine to present a swinging, standard repertoire in characteristic surroundings. History should not only be read about in the programme’s preface. Our family silver is regularly polished in the Classic Jazz Club.
Blip! "The people don't need electronic music. Electricity is for killing traitors in the electric chair". These words were uttered in 1974 by the vice-president of the music conservatory of Moscow, Lèon Theremin. As a consequence Theremin’s laboratory was closed down and his collection of electronic instruments was destroyed. …….. With Blip! electronic music has once again ascended its rightful throne in Copenhagen JazzHouse, 2009. Electronic music technology is a central aspect in the musical experience of these concerts and soon you too will be able to experience electronic jam sessions in the JazzHouse with Blip!
Select Once in a while you are confronted by music which just simply captures the imagination with its intense talent and you sense that it deserves to be exposed for all to see. In Select you have the opportunity to experience the specially selected "rising stars" of the future, and at the same time get swept off your feet.
International Jazz It seems superfluous to describe this profile in depth. Within this profile you will experience the excellence and the most high profile names international jazz has to offer.
Swing Pigalle Swing Pigalle is a club for all who love the swing music of the 20’s and 30’s. Here you can hear the finest toe-tapping music of swing jazz - and even be tempted up to dance! Swing Pigalle has even got its own swing-sextet. And don’t be surprised if you bump into a magician, tap dancer or a well-equipped absinthe bar. Walk up the red carpet and into the lion’s den!
GloBus At a Globus arrangement you will meet world music and roots music in the stunning surroundings of Copenhagen JazzHouse. The whole world is buzzing with this music which, accompanied by globalisation, conquers the hearts of millions with its original, colourful and varied forms of expression. And the global DJ scene is an important aspect of GloBus’ profile.
JazzNpoetry The best of jazz and the best of poetry combine and are presented by the evening’s host in JazzNpoetry in Copenhagen JazzHouse. The most powerful authors of our day are presented - comparing and contrasting their expression with the finest jazz musicians. The traditional liaison between poetry and jazz music is challenged and can be experienced on centre stage where possible and impossible magic evolves.
ReLate “.… other strains of music” can be found under the profile ReLate. In Copenhagen JazzHouse you can also find musical experiences which are almost indefinable within jazz, but still belong to the variety of music we proudly present to you in JazzHouse. These boundless musical journeys and experiences, though not yet defined, can be investigated in ReLate.
GuestHouse When Copenhagen JazzHouse rents its premises to friends and associates the arrangements can be profiled as GuestHouse.
