Ciancaglini Pietro

Pietro Ciancaglini (Double bass) Born in Rome in 1975, he graduated at Conservatory school "L. Refice" in Frosinone. He began his jazz professional activity in 1993 playing first with Ettore Fioravanti quartet and Stefano D’Anna trio. In 1994 after attending Siena jazz workshop he started to collaborate with Pietro Tonolo performing several concerts and recording sessions. In the same period he played also with Mario Raja big band, Roberto Gatto, Maurizio Giammarco quartet. Remarkable are the collaborations with flautist Nicola Stilo and pianist Rita Marcotulli quartet and "Trouffaut project" playing in the most important festivals in Italy and in Holland. In 1995 he started a stable collaboration with alto saxophone player Rosario Giuliani quintet and quartet also recording CD "Luggage" for the french label "Dreyfus jazz". With this group he made a lot of concerts until 2001, and then he started activity with High Five quintet (Daniele Scannapieco, Fabrizio Bosso,Luca Mannutza, Lorenzo Tucci), one of the most importan italian group. They did 2 CD having good appreciations from the critic. In 1998 he was a member of Teatro Eliseo big band directed by Tommaso Vittorini. In 2001 he recorded with pianist Salvatore Bonafede the album "Ortodoxa" that won the referendum for "musica jazz" for best italian album of the year. In 2002 he released his first CD as band leader "Italian jazz graffiti".
