24th Tallinn International Festival Jazzkaar 2013 taking place from April 19th to 28th is honored to announce three headliners –American composer and sax legend Charles Lloyd, young and energetic Japanese piano virtuoso Hiromi and the jazz star of the new generation Gregory Porter. From 2013 the new main sponsor of the festival will be Danske Bank.
It is symbolic in many ways that the jubilee tour of Charles Lloyd should come to Tallinn in April, where Lloyd starred at the famous festival „Tallinn-67“ putting Estonia on the world map of jazz. His music is deeply emotional world-embracing. The Charles Lloyd New Quartet featuring Jason Moran, Reuben Rogers & Gregory Hutchinson will perform on April 26th at Nokia Concert Hall.
The Japanese piano virtuoso Hiromi’s music is full of energy, her show is colorful and her individual approach to jazz classics, pop and rock has made her a star in no time. She has won more then a dozen prizes in Japan and is a regular visitor at the world’s biggest jazz festivals. Hiromi: The Trio Project brings new material to the listeners on April 27th at Marina Pavilion.
Gregory Porter is an American jazz singer-songwriter, whose warm voice and cozy presence have made him one of the hottest artists of the moment. Listeners of all ages fall in love with his music, especially after hearing his hit song „Be Good“. Gregory Porter’s enchanting live on April 25th at the Marina Pavilion promises to be one of the highlights of the festival.
From January 2013 the new main sponsor of Jazzkaar will be Danske Bank. Jazzkaar is happy to have a company behind them who helps create new standards.
