Emerald Baby is pleased to introduce the international recording jazz artist
HIT SINGLE \'TAKE THE DAY OFF \'
World renowned Donna Singer is an electrifying and dazzling jazz show-stopper with her remarkable repertoire of jazz, swing, rhythm and blues. Her cool, sultry, vibrant and, at times, playful voice has wowed audiences in intimate café gatherings as well as theater and concert venues. Donna has a wholesome presence that is fun, energetic and simply memorable.
Formally trained at the Julliard School and a graduate of the New York Academy of Theatrical Arts, Donna has kept music close to her heart. She established Dr. Donna\'s School of Song where
aspiring musicians can begin their journey in the world of music. She shares her gift with young and adult students by providing mentorship and training in piano and voice.
Singing, however, is the truest embodiment of this natural entertainer. Not only is she a juggernaut singer, she is the Singer belting out the tunes. Donna is married to Roy Singer, the composer of "Take the Day Off", Donna\'s current run-away hit on college and NPR stations. The Singers have made their home in the lush Catskill Mountains with their son Christopher.
Donna is in high demand as a jazz vocalist performing nationally, and most recently as featured performer at New York City\'s Thalia\'s Café in Symphony Spot, and the Shrine World in Harlem. She opened for Grammy winner Jimmy Sturr and sang with Gospel Dove Award winner Alvin Slaughter. She headlined the gospel segment at the Catskill Mountain Festival of Music and Art, captivating audiences through a national public broadcast of her performance.
In the Tunes with Donna:
Throughout her twenty years of wowing audiences, Donna has surrounded herself with equally renowned performing artists.
As she belts out the tunes, members of The Doug Richard\'s Trio provide the lively rhythm and soul: bassist Doug Richards, a fixture in the global jazz community; keyboardist Billy Alfred, a popular musical director; and drummer Mike Cervone, a rock and jazz performer for the past two decades. Donna, along with The Doug Richard\'s Trio, recently performed on The Mr. Phil Show on Public Access TV 8, as well as the Latino Music Festival and the Liberty Jazz Festival.
Donna is also the lead singer in the Swing Shift Orchestra (SSO), a seventeen-piece big band delivering the upbeat tunes including Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey, and Duke Ellington. SSO has performed on radio, television and numerous jazz series.

The Artist Speaks....
We caught up with Donna recently to ask a few questions about her life, her music and her influences.
What advice would you offer to other artists?
Work for your dream.
Who in your family influenced your career, and why?
My father, and my twin sister, Dawn, were my biggest influences. Dad had a great love for the jazz musicians of the 30\'s, 40\'s, and 50\'s and introduced us to a world of quality music. Dawn and I grew up listening to the greats and this gave me the inspiration and courage to sing. She is a perfect audience and my Number One fan.
How did you become a Jazz Musician?
By listening to a lot of jazz music. Charlie Parker, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Dinah Washington, Nancy Wilson, Louis Armstrong, Chet Baker, Oscar Peterson among many.
I realize you teach/mentor young students at your school, do you often bring Jazz into the conversation?
I bring Jazz and many genre\'s into my classroom. Educating and cultivating students into any art-form is a great, fun challenge for me. I do make them aware that jazz is one of the only true original art forms in America.
