- October - November Hailed as \"the dean of Latin jazz\" and \"one of the world’s great virtuosic pianists\" by The New York Times, multi-Grammy Award winner Chucho Valdés has recorded over eighty CD’s during his illustrious career, performing with countless jazz masters, including Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, Wynton Marsalis and Chick Corea.

Chucho Valdés was born in 1941.

Having began his music training with his father, famed pianist Bebo Valdés, when he was 3 years old. In 1972 he founded the group Irakere, one of Cuba\'s best-known Latin jazz bands.

Together with pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Valdés is revered as one of Cuba\'s greatest jazz pianists. Chucho\'s illustrious career has garnered him 7 Grammy wins and 16 nominations over the past three decades. His most recent wins, a 2010 Grammy and a 2009 Latin Grammy for the record Juntos para Siempre, saw him collaborate with his father, Bebo Valdés, a major player on the Cuban jazz scene in his own right. Chucho Valdés has recorded over eighty CD\'s and performed with everybody who is somebody in the world of jazz, from Herbie Hancock and Dizzy Gillespie, to Wynton Marsalis and Chick Corea. \"Whether Chucho Valdés is performing a gentle ballad or a rousing foot-stomper, his joy in playing and his love of the music always shines through.
