12th Düsseldorf Jazz Rally

Conceptional changes at the 12th Düsseldorf Jazz Rally Day tickets and special concerts:Jazz Rally makes it a round dozen 12th edition of the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally +++ Germany´s largest jazz festival +++ DD meets fans’ wishes +++ Day tickets for the first time +++ weekend badge for € 20 remains the festival’s identity tag +++ special concerts with exceptional acts +++ 3 days, 80 concerts, 30 stages +++ The Jazz Rally takes place for the twelfth time in 2004. The major three day event on the last weekend of June (25 until 27.6) has firmly established itself in the city’s event calendar. Destination Düsseldorf e.V. that has staged the rally since 1993 has successfully transformed the festival into one of the federal state capital of Düsseldorf’s top annual events. In terms of its national significance it ranks alongside the great Düsseldorf Kirmes (fair), the Rosenmontagszug (carnival parade) or the Japanese firework display. 80 concerts at 30 stages and more than 250,000 jazz fans speak for themselves.Approx. half of the visitors travel up to 50 kilometres to see this spectacle, a lot of people come from much further afield. These figures ensure that Düsseldorf has a reputation as a jazz city throughout the country. Changed basic conditions There will be some conceptional changes during the 12th edition of the festival. The event organisers have met the wishes of a lot of fans and now offer day tickets for the first time this year. Whilst it was only possible to buy a badge for the whole weekend up to now , people who spontaneously decide to attend the festival and day guests can now purchase these day tickets in 2004. The price for these amounts to € 12.00 for the Friday and Saturday respectively, and € 10.00 for the Sunday. Hence the rally will become cheaper for a lot of fans. You can, of course, also purchase a voucher for the whole weekend, which is then converted into the now legendary badge. This “identity tag” costs € 20.00 for the 80 concerts and more than 8,000 minutes of high quality listening pleasure this year. Special concerts at exceptional lovations Top bands are happy to be involved in the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally. They attract their fans. However, these visitors expect to be able to watch their band and not that they must remain outside the concert because it is overcrowded as was the case last year at the Ständehaus. Therefore there will be special concerts for the first time in 2004 for which individual entrance tickets will be sold. It was possible to book the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and the Robert-Schumann-Saal as venues for these concerts. There will be a Round Midnight concert in the Deutsche Oper am Rhein sponsored by the Galeria Kaufhof Königsallee no.1. You can witness the virtuosity of young groups from Scandinavia in the form of the Trio Töykeät  and Silje Nergaard (entrance: € 10.00/15.00/20 plus advance booking fee. Button and day tickets are not valid here). In the Robert-Schumann-Saal Aziza Mustafa Zadeh who was already wildly acclaimed in 2003 will appear (entrance: € 10.00 plus advance booking fee (. Button and day tickets are not valid here). Last year Jazz idol Klaus Doldinger, now already patron for the fifth time, stated that the Düsseldorf Jazz Rally is the largest Jazz Festival. But according to Doldinger the Rally was on course to become the best jazz festival. The event organisers are facing up to these developments and taking account of them in many respects by means of the conceptional changes. The complete programme for the 12th Düsseldorf Jazz Rally under the artistic guidance of Ali Haurand and the patronage of Klaus Doldinger and Düsseldorf’s Lord Mayor Joachim Erwin will be presented at the end of April.
